“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1, NKJV).”
For those Christ followers who confess with their lips that they walk with God yet walk in perpetual fear, it is time to ask yourself, “What do I REALLY think of God?” Have you ever had a situation with a loved one who suddenly thought the worst of you and, despite your long history of good character, had to pose the question to them, “Is that what you really think of me? After all these years, now you think terrible things of me because of something that made you uncomfortable?”
Often, this is how it is in our relationship with God. No matter all He’s done for us through the years, in a crisis, we’re questioning His timing, His love, His faithfulness, whether He remembers us, if He cares, if He’ll come through on time, and so on. So, for those who walk in fear of Satan, man, and/or difficult circumstances, we need to ask ourselves what we believe about God; about the King we profess to love and adore, yet constantly think the worst is going to happen; as though His promise of “for those who love Me, I will turn for good that which Satan means against you for evil” is a lie.
When fear begins to descend upon us, oh heir to the throne of the Most High God, we should ask, “Do I really trust Him, His timing, His ways, His Word, His Promise, His love? Do I really believe that He is who He claims; that His timing is perfect; that He loves me unconditionally? Am I giving more attention to Satan, his demons, the opinion of man, etc?” Are we constantly questioning, “Is this my punishment?” We reap what we have sown both in the earth and the spirit-realm. If we are sowing good seed, a good harvest will come in due season. Do you believe that? When we are walking in His perfect love, fear will flee. “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love (I John 4:18, NAS).”
“For this reason I say to you, DO NOT BE WORRIED ABOUT YOUR LIFE, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But SEEK FIRST HIS KINGDOM AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, and ALL THESE THINGS WILL BE ADDED TO YOU. So DO NOT WORRY ABOUT TOMORROW; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:25-34 (NAS)
