Isaiah 45:6:That men may know from the rising to the setting of the sun that there is no one besides Me. I am the LORD, and there is no other, the One forming light and creating darkness, CAUSING WELL-BEING AND CREATING CALAMITY; I am the LORD who does all these.
I Samuel 16:14-15: Now the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an EVIL SPIRIT FROM THE LORD terrorized him. Saul’s servants then said to him, “Behold now, an evil spirit from God is terrorizing you.
Everywhere I look in the Bible it’s abundantly clear that there is nothing in existence where God does not have His righteous right hand. In Isaiah 45:6 God plainly states that He is the One who forms light and darkness and He causes well-being and calamity. If we had this Scripture alone, we would know without doubt that good and bad come from the hand of the Lord. But we see also in I Samuel 16 that and “evil spirit from the Lord” was sent to terrorize Saul. The evil spirit was from God and for God’s perfect purpose to push David into his kingship.
This is not a “bad things happen to good people” post as there is no one good but God. With that in mind, this is a point of reference to help God’s people to understand first, bad things don’t happen to good people because there are no “good people” only a good God in people. Secondly, when bad things happen, regardless of what it is or the external catalyst, God is in it purposing to expose wickedness within His people so as to purify us. Bad thing happen to bad people (all mankind) so as to expose and ultimately eradicate the bad in ankind stemming from the lineage of Adam.
Think about it: if good exists in God alone and we (human race) were crucified in Christ, we are dead and there is no good in a dead man – only the stench of decay – the natural man never brought about anything good. If there is no good in a dead man, God will do everything to test His people to push us into holiness. The only way to be holy as Christ is holy is to accept the deadness in and of ourselves and submit ourselves completely to Holy Spirit so as to allow His life to become our own. Only in the face of tribulations can evil in us (the dead) be exposed so that we will position ourselves to receive Christ’s supernatural life.
Neither Satan nor his demons can attack without God’s authoritative permission. When we are being attacked, it’s to teach us how to combat demons by Jesus’ blood, not to be destroyed by them. Natural disasters cannot happen without God’s consent. When they come to the just and the unjust alike, God desires us to learn how to stand in the face of all adversity. How else can we learn to stand lest there first be adversity? After all, bad circumstance don’t change people, they only bring out what was already internally present. If mankind were good on any level, the death of the Perfect One would not have been required.
What God wants His people to understand is that, when unpleasant things occur, we are to look to Him as our all-in-all. We are to cling to Him as our life in all situations as did the Apostle Paul. We are to draw so near unto Him that our only focus is Christ – never the situation.
Ephesians 4:6 reads, “One God and Father of all who is OVER ALL and THROUGH ALL and IN ALL.”
Deuteronomy 8:2: You shall remember all the way which the LORD your God has led you in the wilderness these forty years, that He might humble you, TESTING YOU, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.
