Authoritative Prayer

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12, NAS).”

When you daily pull down the nature of the fleshly, soulish man, through Holy Spirit you are capable of seeing through the Spirit’s eye. Then and only then are you equipped to handle the things that life throws. With God’s vision coming from within, you begin to recognize when an evil force is in operation. Satan, the ruler of this earth, controls all that is not born of the Spirit.

We all need desperately to stop fighting with one another: denomination against denomination, race against race, social status against social status, etc. and learn how to war in the spiritual realm in unity with the Creator. We need to focus on His will instead of our own. Even if a person is allowing their flesh to override the spirit and there is no specific demon involved it is still, ultimately, demonically driven. All evil is of Satan, directly or indirectly.

“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you (Romans 8:11, NAS).”

If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, there is nothing you cannot do that God desires – nothing is impossible! You need to know who is in charge and how He takes charge. Jesus takes charge through the believer who walks in obedience. His blood that covers every believer has power and the authority to put that power to use.

The Body of Christ is being ripped apart because so few seem to know or understand who they are in Christ. Ignorance is not bliss. It is deceptive. When you don’t know what is going on in the spirit realm, it is like being in a building with a bomb ticking preparing to explode. Doom is imminent, you are just oblivious. Not knowing does not mean it does not exist.

Authoritative Prayer:

Prayer has been so diminished within the Body of Christ that it has become the last thing we do after all else has failed. Even if you recommend that someone pray, it sounds frivolous and worthless. Prayer, as God intends, is an act of war against Satan and his army! You need to begin to pick up the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God and pray right from the Word according to your situation.

For example: let’s say that you have a spouse or child that is not walking with God. You can pray Psalm 1 over them: “Father, I claim in the name of Jesus that (whoever) no longer walks in the way of the wicked, or stands in the way of the sinner, nor sits in the seat of the mockers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by the streams of waters and in due season bears good fruit. His leaf does not wither, and everything he touches prospers.”

For someone who is making really bad decisions, you can pray Ephesians 1:17-18: “Father, in the name of Jesus, I claim that you are giving (whomever) the spirit of wisdom and revelation so that they may know You better. I decree that the eyes of their heart may be enlightened in order that they may know the hope to which they have been called and the riches of Your glorious inheritance.”

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12, NAS).”

Know Your Authority, part I

Pulling Down Imaginations and Strongholds:

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying imaginations and every high thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, and we are ready to punish all disobedience, whenever your obedience is complete. You are looking at things as they are outwardly. If anyone is confident in himself that he is Christ’s, let him consider this again within himself, that just as he is Christ’s, so also are we. For even if I boast somewhat further about our authority, which the Lord gave for building you up and not for destroying you, I will not be put to shame (II Corinthians 10:3-4, NAS).”

You have authority through the blood to pull down imaginations and strongholds that arise within us. Before you go into any battle for someone or something, you must first have yourself clean. Here’s the breakdown of the instruction of II Corinthians 10:3-4:

  • Imaginations:     have you ever let your mind wander into some out of whack place? It could be imagining having an affair, stealing from your company, lying to get out of something, and so on. Imaginations that are not led by Christ lead people away from God, not toward God. You are not to allow your mind to wander. Take control over it. You are to operate with the sound mind of Christ (Philippians 2:5). In purity, imaginations are what allow you to have visions from God and see them through to fruition. Those visions bring hope to the believer and salvation to the unbeliever.
  • Strongholds:     anything that has a grip on you that would hinder you from being all God created you to be. A stronghold can be holding on to the past, bitterness, anger, greed, jealousy, addictions, or countless other things that seem stronger than Christ in you. When you are led by the Spirit, you will want to pull them down to keep them from oppressing you.
  • Pulling Down:     it is not as much praying as it is commanding those things that hinder you to leave. Commanding things to leave is part of the authority God gave you over your own person. When things try to get in my head, I speak out loud so that demonic forces coming against me can hear, “I command you, in the name of Jesus, to be loosed from your assignment over me (name what it is).” Then I begin to replace them with whatever of God is the opposite. If impatience, replace it with the patience of Christ; if anger, peace; if hatred, love; if sorrow and depression, joy; anxiety, calm; if impurity, purity.

Know How to Battle:

By knowing who we are in Christ, the power we have and the authority we possess to utilize such power, we will recognize just how in love God is with you. With that revelation, you will turn and fall deeply in love with God and you will never want to displease Him again. By getting to know Him on an intimate level, you will see that all He asks of you is for you, not against you.

Likewise, you will begin to see past the flesh of others. You will begin to see with the vision of Holy Spirit and then you will stop fighting everyone in the natural and begin to war with your authority through prayer. You will begin to war in the spirit realm as God intended. Satan’s tactic is to rally everyone against each other in a billion petty ways to keep us fighting against one another so as to divide God’s Kingdom. When you begin to see through the eye of God, you will seek to know how to battle through prayer and declaration instead of fighting against the flesh.

Enter Life Through Death, part III

God Communes with Himself in Us:

“…that though they are judged in the flesh as men, they may live in the spirit according to the will of God (I Peter 4:6, NAS).”

“God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth (John 4:24, NAS).”

“For we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh (Philippians 3:3, NAS).”

A mere mortal does not have the capacity in his flesh to contain the knowledge of Almighty God. To know God is to be in relationship with God on the deepest level. To be in a genuine relationship with Yeshua is to rid ourselves of self. Since sin cannot remain in the presence of God, He cannot be in relationship with anyone but Himself. Only He is sinless.

This is why we all had to die. It was so that through death (spiritually) we were positioned to receive the Spirit of God through the blood of Jesus. In this, God doesn’t commune with our flesh but with Himself merged with our spirit; it’s a Spirit to spirit connection.

The only laws in tact at that time were “don’t eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil” and the “law of increase.” The only command was “don’t eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.” The law of increase was not a command but a law set in motion by God without question or choice. God told Adam and Eve not to partake of knowledge when He told them not to eat of the tree. He loved them and did not desire that they die. But alas, that was the only feasible plan. Death had to come. Otherwise, God would be communing with a people who did not choose Him and were communing out of a sense of obligation. If Adam had been in love with God, he would not have given in to temptation.

What an exquisite thing for mere mortals to be welcomed into the presence of such a holy, righteous, sovereign God, our Creator! All that is required is to die to the selfish, tainted nature of Adam in which we are born so as to allow God Almighty to enter and merge with us as one entity. It is a privilege, indeed, that very few choose.

We’ll pick up here next week as we continue with Adam and Eve, death and life. If you are interested in reading more, check out my website to order my books, or go to my Facebook ministry page where I post regularly. Blessings!

Rest in Re-established Order, part IV

Adam’s Instruction:

“Out of the ground the Lord God caused to grow every tree that is pleasing to the sight and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil…then the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it. The Lord God commanded the man, saying, “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.

Genesis 2:9, 15-17 (NAS)

“In the midst” refers to the idea that God did not hide anything from them. Everything was always readily accessible, including life itself. God gave man the will to choose obedience or disobedience. The tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil were at their disposal. God most certainly knew they would partake of the forbidden one. They had every opportunity to eat of the tree of life, yet nowhere do we read that they chose life – they most certainly chose death. Because of their disobedience, we all know the difference between good and evil. Given this fact, we must all follow suite and choose death to the selfish nature of Adam’s flesh. It’s the only way to receive the life originally given to Adam and Eve.

The Law that comes much later is set to reveal the sin nature in all mankind. This one single command, “you shall not eat,” revealed the sin nature in the one man, Adam. It only took one to show how completely and utterly defiled the flesh is and how it’s always set against the Spirit of God. Man could not obey one simple rule and God knew it. Adam, a living soul, had to come first so as to allow God to later bring the Life Giving Spirit, Jesus (the Last Adam). Although Adam was very much alive physically, he did not possess the power to give life to anyone else. Through the death of Adam, Jesus was able to bring life to all (I Corinthians 15).

God knew all along the temptation that would befall Adam and Eve and their seed to follow. God had to allow it to transpire so that, through Adam’s curse of death, a way was forged for Jesus – the first heir to power and authority over all – to be born intoAdam’s lineage. Through this, Jesus had the legal right to take back the authority of the earth that God gave to Adam and Adam gave to Satan. God always abides His own rules, and so should we.

Hope you’ll come back next week as we continue with Adam and Eve, death and life. It requires careful study so as to clear some long-standing misconceptions.

Kingdom Authority and Power, Part II

Posted on Updated on

22 October 2013
Kingdom Authority and Power, Part II

“But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly…not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:10-13, NAS).”

“But if I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the Kingdom of God has come upon you (Matthew 12:28, NAS).”

What Paul is saying in Philippians four is pure power! Through choosing to recognize that his flesh was dead and daily consign it as such, he was allowing the Spirit of God within himself to be fine-tuned; sharpened. Though the fleshly part of all people is to want “more” of whatever turns us on, Holy Spirit seeks only His kingdom. When led exclusively by Holy Spirit, the only desire we will have is Kingdom expansion and all that goes along with that because that is God’s desire. In this condition, Paul was equipped to have supernatural power over fleshly desires, be it “desiring more in his poverty” or “becoming prideful in his abundance.” Basically speaking, Paul operated in neither shame of lack nor pride of abundance – Christ was his all-in-all – he was grounded in Christ regardless of circumstance. Paul, despite the flesh in which he resided, he was Kingdom-minded in everything.

Paul became the epitome of the unshakable Kingdom of God spoken of in Hebrews 12:28-29: “Therefore, since we receive a Kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; for our God is a consuming fire.” Paul was not shaken by hunger, for his trust and confidence was in The King. He was not moved by his bounty, for his praises to the Giver never ceased. He had single vision; Kingdom vision; God’s vision.

“Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, ‘Now the salvation and the POWER and the KINGDOM OF GOD and the AUTHORITY of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our God day and night (Revelation 12:10, NAS).”

“But of the Son He says, ‘Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, and the righteous scepter is the scepter of His Kingdom (Hebrews 1:8, NAS).”
Satan is a defeated foe though for a season he is allowed to torment, kill, steal and destroy we who are created in the image of God. We must keep in mind at all times and in every season, although Satan throws fiery darts and sets road blocks before us, he must contend with the King who sent The Ambassador (Jesus) to earth, not the ambassadors (Jesus-filled people). We are merely the messengers of the High King. Knowing this, God has given us every tool necessary to defend ourselves; not with warring with one another, but with the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

We are never to war in the flesh. Satan will send his demons to coerce the unsuspecting to lash out against you. Resist temptation to verbally or physically defend [your] honor: for it is not [your] honor at stake, but God’s. With this mindset which is grounded in the kingdom of heaven, you will be more self-disciplined when confronted with insults hurled at you. God will contend with those who contend with Him ambassadors – every time, but only in His timing, not ours.

We must be patient to wait upon Yahweh. Knowing this and the wrath that will be unleashed toward the unrepentant, we will more quickly intercede in prayer for mercy for our human foe. We should never wish destruction for mankind; God loves us and expects His people to intercede for others whether we want to or not. Again, as an ambassador, [our personal opinion and desire] is irrelevant. God and His directive exclusively are our motivating factor.

So Pilate said to Him, “You do not speak to me? Do You not know that I have authority to release You, and I have authority to crucify You?” Jesus answered, “You would have no authority over me, unless it had been given you from above…(John 19:10-11, NAS).”

Here in John 19, we see where, without being prideful in His words, Jesus spoke plainly and with Kingdom confidence that Pilate had no authority to do anything with Him lest God the Father granted him authority. Jesus, even in the face of death, did not waver, but stood firmly in the knowledge, power and authority of God. He knew who He was, His Kingdom purpose, and did not allow emotions or circumstance to lead Him astray from the plan at hand. Let us all begin to stand and, when all else fails, stand without wavering in the love, power, authority, obedience, humility and Kingdom purpose of Jesus Christ Himself.
