Life and Death, part III

Tangible and Intangible:

“in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience (Ephesians 2:2, NAS).”

Behind every tangible object there is something intangible; demonic forces set by Satan’s kingdom. Watchman Nee refers to the intangible as the world, meaning the spirit world of Satan. I often hear people say, “Oh, don’t look for a demon behind every bush!” I am here to tell you that there is a demon behind every bush, every door, every tangible thing. Satan is the prince of the air; the air, spiritually speaking, is infiltrated with demonic spirits.

The world of Satan is demonic in nature and he runs this Earth. If something is not Holy Spirit controlled, it is controlled by Satan and his legion of fallen angels. The Body of Christ sorely needs to grasp this and then learn how to protect herself from the wiles of the enemy. She is to take back the earth!

If there is anything that you hold tightly physically, mentally or emotionally, it is controlling you. If it is, then God is not. Again, if you are still operating in the flesh, you allow your mind to be flooded with things of the flesh. However, if you are completely led by Holy Spirit, your mind will be flooded with the thoughts of Christ Jesus and it will be a pleasure. Then, whenever something of the flesh tries to come in, and it will try, you will immediately be able and willing to recognize it, reject it, and pull it down into the obedience of Christ as we are instructed according to II Corinthians 10:5.

All who are led by the Spirit will be noticeable in this world, for the world is set against God. Those whose lives are Christ alone need to rise out of complacency. The Bride of Christ, as she is now, just kind of strolls along through life not really concerned with knowing what is of God and what is of Satan; what is of the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of darkness. She seems to be in a comatose state.

If you do not know if you are led by the Spirit, let me help – you are not! You must make an executive decision concerning your fleshly desires to die to them. This is taking up the authority Christ gave you over your own person. Then, and only then, will you be free to be led by Holy Spirit.

Dead Flesh, Living Spirit, part II

What Went Wrong?

“For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please (Galatians 5:17, NAS).”

“What happened?” you may ask and the answer is simple. I was led by my mind (that said “go ahead, this once won’t matter. You deserve some fun”), my will (which didn’t care one wit about God’s Word), and my emotions (telling me how good it would feel physically). There in play was my soul: mind, will and emotions I’ve already touched on throughout the chapters. Remember, this is what happened to Adam. At one point, I still did not understand the strategy of war or how to battle. I didn’t understand the Kingdom of God, how to fight the soul, or how Satan operated in me through my lack of knowledge of my identity in Christ.

The flesh is at enmity with the spirit. The natural man’s fleshly desire (death) wanted what it wanted. My spirit (life) wanted to please God but was overridden by my soul. Any enemy, natural or spiritual, will always overtake you if you don’t know who they are and how they operate. This is why we must learn how to die to everything that is not from Holy Spirit leading. The enemy works through any means possible to trick and trip you.

To recap the first few chapters, the only way to escape the curse of eternal death is to die to the flesh while living in a mortal temple. The only way to live again is to be born a second time into the Spirit of the Living God. When a follower of The Way is saved they are called out of the earthly nature and brought into the spiritual nature of God. Not only did Jesus literally give up His physical flesh on the cross, He denied or died to His flesh while living on the earth.

Surely He, before Satan came against Him on the mountain, was tempted while growing up with all the temptation of a normal human being; yet, He never sinned. The Word says so. Why is there so little understanding? This act of sinlessness throughout Jesus’ life shows you how to die to the flesh while living in this earthen vessel. He never took into consideration Himself or His own desires of the flesh. He denied Himself the pleasures of this world. He gave no leeway to the flesh though temptation was ever present.

To die to the flesh is to be selfless or no self involvement. No part of you is involved in any decision making; only Holy Spirit leading is allowed. You no longer take the old, dead earthly nature and it’s wants into consideration. As I have already stated, the absolute purpose of the physical body is to bring honor and glory to Yahweh, always and in everything. Your relationship is not a part time job, it’s your life.

This does not mean you cannot golf, fish, watch some television, read the paper, wear make-up or jewelry, work a job, etc. It does, however, mean that God is to be supreme ruler over all these things and you are not to allow anything to stand in the way of your Kingdom destiny. He wants you to enjoy the things of this earth as long as they do not interfere with His kingdom purpose. Everything must be in balance – something for which the world in unfamiliar. God’s perspective is the only perspective you are to recognize as valid.

The Root of the Problem, part VII

Eternal Life:

John 17:3-5 (NAS) Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent. I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave Me to do. And now, Father, glorify Me in Your presence with the glory I had with You before the world began.

Please know with full assurance that God does, always has and always will, work all things for good for those who love Him (Genesis 50:20; Romans 8:28). There is nothing that slips by Him. Satan means everything against God’s people for evil, no question about it. Adam simply did not know how to be led by anything other than his soul. That in itself would be considered knowledge and he had none.

Since Adam’s death, death is no longer the punishment, but rather the gift (Romans 6:1-11)! Satan meant death unto mankind as evil, but God meant it to us for our good and God’s good, glory and honor. Yeshua knew that Adam would fall. He also knew that anytime He is loved by any person who chooses death for His sake is humble and truly loves Him. Humility defeats the enemy and death is the ultimate level of humility.

This does not mean muttering some sinner’s prayer. This is total sell out to God. This is saying, “Lord, all I have and all I am is Yours. Do with me what You will. I put my complete faith in You. I believe, help me with my unbelief. Here I am. You are my God and I am Your people.”

Salvation is not the end, but the beginning of an incredible over the top journey with God here on earth. There is nothing so incredible as a sold out life with Christ; to have Him speak into your spirit directly and to guide your every move!

We’ll pick up here next week as we continue with The Root of the Problem (chapter 5 of What was God Thinking?). Withstanding the Whiles of the Enemy

Mark 1:9-13 (NAS): In those days Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. Immediately coming up out of the water, He saw the heavens opening, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him; and a voice came out of the heavens: “You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased.” Immediately the Spirit impelled Him to go out into the wilderness. And He was in the wilderness forty days being tempted by Satan; and He was with the wild beasts, and the angels were ministering to Him.

Although God created man, man was still not otherworldly, but rather of the earth. This explains why, though the tempter had not yet approached Adam and Eve, worldliness was innate in them. Because they were earthly, when the tempter did come, fall was not only easy, but natural. It was the earthly or rather, the fleshly, thing to do, because they were “of the earth/ground.” They were in fact natural creatures whereas God is supernatural. Jesus, who is God (otherworldly, supernatural, from heaven) had to come to give us access to God through His death and resurrection.

Through our own individual crucifixion of self and receiving the supernatural life of Christ, we become otherworldly – born of the Kingdom of God, aka no longer “of the earth.” Becoming supernatural from heaven occurs, not just by God coming to earth, but by receiving the deposit of Holy Spirit. Only God Himself, the Trinity, could withstand the wiles of the tempter; Jesus entered the wilderness only after being anointed/baptized into Holy Spirit.

Because God gave authority to Adam, God tied His own hands from being able to protect Adam and Eve from their fall. Had they not been given such authority, God could have intervened. God put man on the earth to rule/govern the earth as He rules heaven; therefore this will always be – man ruling the earth. It would behoove God’s people to get used to ruling because, with the new earth in our future, we are coming back to stay and rule! It’s time God’s holy bride learns now how to rule the earth as originally intended and that can only be accomplished through following the lead of Holy Spirit in all things.

In the grand scheme of God’s Kingdom perspective, protection for Adam was not God’s goal – only death was His plan so that through it, man may come to receive true life, eternal life. Only through Christ manifesting His supernatural life through man can anyone withstand the schemes of Satan; it isn’t attainable by simply memorizing Scripture and using will power. Only God can do what God can do. In dying to self or in other words, accepting as fact that the flesh was crucified with Christ a long time ago and it is already dead, we would be free of the flesh allowing only God’s will to manifest in the earth. God freely exerts His power that we may withstand Satan’s fiery darts just as did Jesus.

God is Sovereign and His plan is always perfect. He knew that man could not bear the temptation (whiles) of Satan and that the temptation would kill Adam and his kind. God’s knew that He could only have a perfect man if the man were God Himself; God in the flesh. In essence, Adam was a canister that was full of self and sin. Through The Fall, God was able to empty the canister to then come and fill it with Holy Spirit. Man cannot resist Satan, but once we are empowered by Holy Spirit, we are able because He who is in us is more than able and already accomplished resistance to every temptation. Holy Spirit does the resisting through us. Through Christ, all things are possible.

Two Kingdoms

Posted on Updated on

8 November 2013
Two Kingdoms

“…there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The KINGDOM OF THE WORLD has become the KINGDOM OF OUR LORD and of HIS CHRIST; and HE WILL REIGN forever and ever (Revelation 11:15, NAS).”

“For He rescued us from the DOMAIN OF DARKNESS, and transferred us to the KINGDOM OF HIS BELOVED SON (Colossians 1:13, NAS).”

We must first establish that there are two kingdoms: God’s and Satan’s. Ultimately, we know that the Kingdom of God will reign supreme over all darkness – the world kingdom – Satan’s kingdom reigning currently on earth. By accepting Christ’s redemptive blood through repentance, people are able to transition from the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of God. This is the broad picture, but what about the more detailed picture that involves we who dwell on earth? To whom does the earth belong?

1. THE LORD?

“THE EARTH IS THE LORD’S, and everything in it, the world, and all who
live in it…(Psalm 24:1-2, NAS).”

2. SATAN?

“…the devil has come down to you…he has a short time (Revelation 12:12).”

“…you formerly walked according to the course of this world…the PRINCE
OF THE POWER OF THE AIR…(Ephesians 2:2, NAS).”

“…now the RULER OF THIS WORLD will be cast out (John 12:31, NAS).”

“in whose case the GOD OF THIS WORLD has blinded the minds of the
unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel…
(II Corinthians 4:4, NAS).”

3. MAN?

“The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s: but the EARTH hath he given
to the CHILDREN OF MEN (Psalm 115:16, KJV).”

This can be tricky if we only look at these Scriptures by themselves. Ultimately, the earth belongs to God as everything in existence does because He is the grand Creator of all – the seen and the unseen. He is the “owner.” As the owner, he gave rule over the earth to man through Adam. Adam and his descendants were ordained to rule as “acting manager” in a manner of speaking. However, as manager, he had the authority to give management over to someone else – and so he did. Through his sin, he inadvertently gave the management to Satan, the prince of the power of the air, aka the god of this world.

A common phrase among people is, “I went/am going through hell.” This is because currently, Satan’s domain is the earth. When he was cast from heaven, God said “Woe to the inhabitants of the earth!” but, all is not lost. We, God’s ambassadors from the kingdom of heaven, are clearly to usher heaven down to earth! This hasn’t been happening much because of lack of understanding of His Kingdom, but it’s time to learn where we’re from and who we are.

“The devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him ALL the KINGDOMS OF THE WORLD and their glory, and he said to Him, ‘All these things I WILL GIVE YOU, if You fall down and worship me.’ Then Jesus said to him, ‘Go, Satan! For it is written, “You shall worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only (Matthew 4:8-11, NAS).”’”

Satan could not have offered Jesus something he did not already possess. Satan took possession when Adam legally gave it to him in the Garden of Eden. God gave authority to Adam, therefore by all legal rights, he singlehandedly gave dominion over to the devil.

After the flood, God made covenant with Noah hence giving back all legal ground over the earth to man. As time passed, mankind grew more and more evil, in turn handing the earth back to Satan. It wasn’t until Jesus came in the lineage of King David that, by conquering death and the grave, authority was given to Jesus. Now all who receive Christ as their Lord, King, and Savior have within them the One who holds the authority. God gave Jesus authority and Jesus gave authority to the Church – those who accept Christ (mankind). Through redeemed man, the Kingdom of God can reign on earth as it should have been in the beginning. So, though currently the earth is Satan’s dominion, we who walk according to the Spirit can take back what God originally gave to man.

“Therefore, just as through one man SIN ENTERED INTO THE WORLD, and DEATH through sin, and so DEATH SPREAD TO ALL MEN, because all sinned (Romans 5:12, NAS).”

When Adam sinned, because he was the visible manifestation of the invisible kingdom of heaven, technically, he committed TREASON. He lost both his relationship and his kingdom. As Myles Munroe put it: “Adam was a king without a kingdom. A ruler with nothing to rule.” God’s holy people need most desperately to discover a kingdom mindset, how God’s Kingdom government works, and then turn and rule the earth through Holy Spirit so as to overthrow Satan. The time is now to take back the earth!
